Films that have an “X” rating are no longer relevant.
X is a misleading name for the film rating. It is not a trademark owned by either the Motion Picture Association of America or Classification and Ratings Administration. There is no reason why an X rating should be given to the film, other than making money.
The X rating was not used to give movie ratings to films that were aimed at older audiences, but it was used to identify films that contained violent content. Some newspapers do not allow ads for X films that are rated and TV channels refuse to show censored versions of X films.
